Volunteer Bali

Volunteering in BaliWelcome to Bali!

Well known as "the islands of the Gods" or "the island of a thousand temples", Bali is the most famous Island in Indonesia. The daily life of the Balinese people is dedicated to the prevalent Hindu Dharma religion. Almost every day people celebrate with colorful religious ceremonies, marking the life of Balinese people. In every village in Bali there are several temples and at least one small one in each home. Overall Bali has more than 20,000 temples.

On the streets of Bali, old men sit proudly presenting their fighting roosters, women carry offerings on their head to the next temple and in front of stores lay little banana leaf baskets filled with offerings. All of this is accompanied by the constant smell of joss sticks and the sound of gamelan music. This celebrated religion in combined with the unique countryside and the friendliness of the Balinese people gives Bali a special atmosphere and makes it an ideal place to volunteer.
In Bali, Travel to Teach is working in partnership with the local Foundation Yayasan Cahaya Pendidikan Anak Bali. The Foundation is a non-profit organisation that is dedicated to improving children’s Education and Educational System in Bali. Volunteers are a huge part of the working face of the foundation and their work usually consists of assisting the local teachers in governmental schools during the mornings. The Foundation has many local partners in Bali and together with these partners we are running several afternoon teaching classes.
